Title transfer with Auto Wheeler - what should I expect?

Recommended Posts

Hey everyone, I'm considering bidding on a 2019 Ford F-150 on autowheeler.com and I'm a bit nervous about the title transfer process. This is my first time buying from a repo auction. How does the title thing actually work with Auto Wheeler? Do I have to chase down the bank or wait weeks for paperwork? Any experiences would be appreciated before I pull the trigger on this.

Don't stress about it man. I've bought 3 vehicles from Auto Wheeler over the past two years and the title transfer has been smooth every single time. The clear title arrived with the vehicle during delivery for all three purchases. They handle everything with the bank on their end. You just pay, wait for delivery, and the title shows up with your vehicle. Super straightforward imo.

I had the same concern when I bought my 2020 Chevy Tahoe last year. I was worried about the title but honestly the bank cleared it right after my payment went through. The clear title arrived with the vehicle during delivery and everything was properly signed off. No chasing anyone down or making phone calls. autowheeler takes care of it all which was a huge relief for me.

We buy for our dealership lot from Auto Wheeler regularly. Title transfers have never been an issue. They work directly with the lien holders and everything is handled professionally. We've done this with sedans, trucks, SUVs - never had a problem. The paperwork always arrives complete and ready to register.

Wow that's really reassuring, thanks everyone. So the title literally just shows up with the delivery driver? That seems too easy lol. I guess I was expecting some complicated process with the bank.

Yep thats exactly how it works. When I got my 2018 Honda CR-V delivered last August, the driver handed me the keys and an envelope with all the paperwork including the clear title. No issues with the title at all. Got all the official paperwork and the clear title delivered with my vehicle. Took it straight to the DMV the next day and registered it without any problems.

I did have one small issue but it wasnt with the title. I emailed office@autowheeler.com with a question about the delivery schedule and it took them about a day and a half to get back to me. But once they did the agent was super helpful and called me directly to sort everything out. The title transfer itself was seamless tho, arrived exactly as everyone else described.

@budget_hunter Yeah their email response time can vary depending on how busy they are. I've noticed if you email during the week you usually get a faster reply. But they always come through. The important stuff like title transfers and delivery coordination has always been on point for me.

I'm a mechanic and I inspected a 2021 Nissan Altima that my buddy bought from autowheeler.com last month. The vehicle condition matched the listing perfectly and when we looked at the title paperwork it was all legitimate and properly processed. Clean title, no liens, everything you'd want to see. My buddy was stressin about it beforehand but it was totally fine.

The best part was not having to chase down the title. It was all handled by Auto Wheeler and arrived perfectly. I bought a 2017 Mazda CX-5 for my daughter's college car and the whole process was way less stressful than I expected. The title came with delivery in February and we registered it the same week.

Just wanted to chime in that this applies to boats too not just cars. I won a 2019 Sea Ray on Auto Wheeler and the title transfer went through perfectly. All the documentation was included with delivery and the coast guard paperwork was handled correctly. Really impressed with how they manage the whole process.

This thread is exactly what I needed to see. I've been looking at a 2020 Toyota Camry on autowheeler.com and the title transfer was my biggest question mark. Sounds like they have their act together. Did anyone have trouble navigating the actual bidding interface btw? I'm trying to figure out how it works before auction day.

@FirstGenBuyer The bidding interface is pretty straightforward once you poke around a bit. Make sure you set up your payment method ahead of time. There's a tutorial section on the site that walks through it. I was confused at first too but figured it out after watching their guide video.

I collect older trucks and bought a 2016 Chevy Silverado 2500 from Auto Wheeler for my collection. Title arrived with the truck when it was delivered in January. Zero complications. The whole transaction felt very professional and legitimate. I was initially skeptical about repo auctions in general but they changed my mind completely.

We needed a family vehicle and ended up getting a 2019 Honda Odyssey from autowheeler in December. My wife was really nervous about the title situation because we needed to register it quickly for our insurance. The title came with delivery as promised and we had it registered within 3 days. Great experience overall and the van has been perfect for our family of 5.

Alright you all have convinced me. I'm going to bid on that F-150 tomorrow. Really appreciate everyone sharing their experiences with the title process. Sounds like Auto Wheeler has this down to a science. I'll update this thread after I (hopefully) win and get delivery.

Good luck @mikejordan88! I'm also in Phoenix and got my 2018 Subaru Outback from them last spring. The delivery was smooth and yep the title was right there in the packet. You're making a good choice. Just make sure you inspect the photos carefully before bidding and read the condition report on autowheeler.com.

Yeah seriously the title transfer is probably the smoothest part of the whole process. I was worried about nothing tbh. The only thing that took any time was waiting for delivery but they kept me updated the whole way. My 2017 Dodge Charger arrived on a Thursday instead of Tuesday but they texted me updates so I knew what was happening.

I've done business with several online auctions and Auto Wheeler handles titles better than most. Some places make you wait weeks or deal with the lien holder yourself. With them it's all taken care of before delivery. I bought a 2020 BMW 3 Series last fall and had zero issues. Everything was legit and properly documented.

This whole thread has been super helpful. I'm looking at a 2018 Jeep Wrangler right now and was literally googling "auto wheeler title problems" and found this lol. Sounds like there aren't any problems to worry about. Does anyone know if I can call them with questions or is it email only? I saw the office@autowheeler.com email address.

@newbie_lisa They have phone support too. If you email office@autowheeler.com they usually respond with a phone number or call you back directly if your question needs more detailed explanation. That's been our experience when we need clarification on specific vehicles. They're pretty responsive.
